Stephen Hicks - Composition

Steve writes for a variety of instrumental groupings from songs (Snow - 5 Haiku for Soprano, Choir, Cello and Horn), to Chamber Orchestra (Clarinet Chamber Concerto) to full orchestra such as "Your boundaries are the Sky" (2007) and his First Symphony Completed in 2005.

He has done orchestral and chamber arrangements for and performed by groups including the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and Brass 10.

Steve's style is rooted in the Western Classical Style but is thoroughly modern. His Brass Quintet - first performed at the Aldeburgh Festival - has been described as being written in "a contrapuntal style and uncompromising harmonic idiom".

"Your boundaries are the sky" was premiered by Fulham Symphony Orchestra on 8th December 2007 at St John's, Smith Square.
